Page Hall 220
Mitch Amiano began his career developing process automation applications for small businesses. Quietly using markup languages since 1994, and database management systems since 1989, Mitch has worked in process/quality teams and advanced tool departments at Fortune 500 companies, as well as consulting to small and medium-sized businesses.
Mitch founded Agile Markup Corporation in 2003 to provide XML and open source training and development services to educational institutions and small business clients. During this time, he co-authored the WROX technical title XML Problem, Design, Solution with D’Cruz, Ethier, and Thomas. His special contributions to the book were in schema modeling for generalized semantic markup with RelaxNG and W3C XML Schema, and direct rendering of XML markup using XSL transformations and CSS.
In his spare time, Mitch reads about algebraic systems, practices edible landscaping on his 1.97 acre home in Rolesville, volunteers with the non-profit Grow and Share Corp, and does his best to find beauty in street photography at festivals and photo walks. He also served on his town’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, of which he was 2005 Chair. Mitch launched the Amiano Extemporé Facebook photography page in response to an engagement captured in the moment at Animazement 2016, and in 2017 returned to the conference to perform as One Punch Man – subsequently joining The Excelsior League which has as its goal to encourage children with serious illnesses.
