The credentials that allow access to file shares in AFS (K drive, M drive, etc.) are obtained when you log into your account. The credentials expire in 10 hours and if they are not renewed then access to the shares could be denied.
One way to fix the problem would be to either reboot the computer or to log off and log back on. Another way is to obtain new credentials via the AFS Client.
To do that, follow these steps:
- Click the Show hidden icons button located in the notification section on the right of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the OpenAFS icon, the padlock, which opens the Network Identity Manager.
- In the list of kerberos principals, right-click the unityid@EOS.NCSU.EDU principal then click the Obtain new credentials… option.
- In the Obtain new credentials dialog, enter the password for your Unity account then click the Finish button.
Your credentials should now be renewed and you will have access to the AFS file shares.
