If an individual cannot access his or her own directory, it’s important to have the customer login into one of the Linux boxes at the Service Desk or have them log into PuTTY and confirm that they cannot read or “cd” into their home directory.

When this is the case, have them type:

Insert their own unity ID where it says \[unity ID]

If all environmental variables are set right, this is a shortcut you can try to use:

*All individuals, regardless if they have access to read their own directory, should have the ability to change these permissions. So, simply put, they just have to give themselves permission to read their own directory.
